What Does HHR Stand For?
The Chevrolet HHR is an car built on General Motors Delta 3 platform, that is shared with both the Saturn Ion and Chevrolet Cobalt. The HHR stands for Heritage High Roof, although lots refer to the HHR as a Hip Hot Rod or a Heritage Hot Rod. The Chevrolet HHR was introduced as a competitor to Chrysler’s PT Cruiser, and although many days late to the party, has seen a lot of success. The HHR is designed to look like the 1949 Chevy Suburban in design and appearance. The looks are the same to each one, in stance, and overall design. Many users have made modifications to their Heritage High Roof to make it more like a heritage 1949 Suburban, such as adding Chevy truck lettering to the sides of the suv, and adding the 1949 hood emblem onto the hood of the Chevrolet HHR. HHR stands for Heritage High Roof.
When was the HHR first Made?
The Chevy HHR was first assembled in 2005 as a 2006 model year. HHR was originally available in LS, 1LT, and 2LT trim levels. HHR LS was the base model, while the 2 trim levels of 1LT and 2LT offered various better options. The HHR SS model was introduced in 2008, and offers a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine. The HHR SS was last made available for the 2010 model year and the HHR itself is last made available as a 2011 model. The General Motors plant that assembles the HHR shuts operations in 2011, spelling out the demise of the HHR. The Heritage High Roof will last be available in 2011.
Is the HHR a Car or SUV?
According to General Motors and Chevy, the HHR is listed as a light truck. This allows Chevrolet to offset its CAFE ratings, to allow the Chevrolet line of Pickup trucks to not be as fuel efficient as would otherwise be required. The HHR is very fuel efficient, and will average up to 33 miles per gallon on a highway trip, with some users reporting fuel mileage up to 36 mpg. Some automotive magazines report the Chevrolet HHR to be a SUV as well. So although the Heritage High Roof is based on the same frame and platform as a Chevrolet Cobalt car, it is classified as a light truck.
How long will my Chevy HHR last?
As long as you perform basic maintenance as scheduled in your Chevrolet HHR owners manual, your HHR should last a very long time. I have seen a 2006 HHR with over 200,000 miles on it, running on the original engine as well. A few tips would be to use synthetic oil on your HHR oil changes, and be very strict about getting your oil changed on time. Perform regular maintenance, oil changes, service intervals, fluid changes, engine flushes, and your Chevrolet HHR will last you for many many years.
